If you want to get repeat clients and build a strong reputation in your hairstyling career, you have to know how to talk to the people who sit down in your chair. Communication is one of the most important skills to master in any kind of cosmetology job, but it is especially important when cutting hair. When you are able to communicate effectively, you can:
Find Out Exactly What Clients Want
Meeting a customer’s needs is your primary responsibility at a hair salon job. You have to be able to talk to your clients and determine what they want for their look. Some people know exactly what they want and will give you specific instructions. Other people will only give you a general idea of the style they are looking for. It is up to you to ask the right questions so you can get the information you need to give each client what he or she wants.
Read Between the Lines
Sometimes, the most important parts of a conversation are those things that are left unsaid. Before you start working on a haircut, take the time to read between the lines and determine your course of action. Repeat the important aspects of the conversation back to the client to make sure you have communicated effectively. Ask a few additional questions so you feel completely confident in the kind of cut that your client’s expects.
Excel As a Hairstylist
Once you are able to communicate well with your customers, you will be able to make new suggestions and find a style that might work better. If you can master your communication skills, you will be able to find extreme success at your hairstylist job.
At Supercuts of ME, NH, & MA, we want you to feel in control of your career. We offer cosmetology jobs where you can feel comfortable enough to truly succeed. If you are ready to start a career, we are here to help. Call (978) 687-3636 to learn more.

Now that the calendar has officially made the transition into 2013, it might be time to suggest a new style for some of your clients. As a hair stylist, you are a person who customers trust with their looks. Show them that you are worthy of this trust by suggesting a new look that will help them do the following:
Leave the Past Behind
If 2012 was a less-than-stellar year, getting a new hairstyle could be the perfect way to catapult into a successful new year. You have probably heard your fair share of life stories at your hair salon job, so you will know if a client is ready to leave 2012 in the past and find a new beginning. Even if a client comes in just asking for a trim, there is no harm in suggesting a completely new style. New hair might be all that he or she needs to take charge and make some changes.
Provide a Reminder of Resolutions
Many New Year’s resolutions are notoriously broken. If your clients get a new look, they may be able to better remember their own resolutions each time they look in the mirror. You can do your part to help them become the best version of themselves.
Embrace the Exciting Possibilities of the Future
Sometimes, all it takes to boost confidence is a new look. You can use your position as a hairstylist to help clients feel great about themselves so they can conquer the world. With your hairstyling expertise, your clients can recharge their self-image and get excited about the future.
If you are looking for the perfect place to launch a fulfilling hairstyling career, Supercuts of ME, NH, & MA may be the company for you. Our cosmetology jobs offer you the chance to really utilize and improve your skills. Call (978) 687-3636 to make your own fresh start in the New Year.

In the wake of the Sandy Hook Elementary School tragedy on Friday, December 14th, many of us are looking for a way to help; a way to create change in Newtown, in our communities, and the world. Thinking about this, NBC’s Ann Curry asked everyone to imagine what would happen if we all committed to performing 26 act of kindness to honor each life lost in Newtown, and thus the 26 Acts of Kindness campaign began. The campaign was created not only as a way to give back in honor of Newtown, but also as a way to impact local communities across America.
Challenge!
MjjM Salons wants to put some good back into your communities by encouraging you to participate in the 26 Acts of Kindness campaign in honor of the 20 children and 6 teachers lost in Newtown. We challenge each MjjM Salons employees to commit 26 acts of kindness, small or large, over the next month. What are acts of kindness? They can be anything that would make another person feel good! Opening a door for someone, visiting the elderly woman next door to say Merry Christmas, surprising someone with cookies, adding a few coins to a parking meter, paying for coffee for the person in line behind you… Anything that you can think of which would put a smile on your face, is an act of kindness!
Record your Acts!
We would love to hear how you are reaching out to make someone’s day a little brighter or your community a bit better!! Share the campaign with your friends and family, and challenge them to get involved too!
Tweet your acts at #MjjMSalons and #26ActsofKindess
Post your acts to our facebook wall, Supercuts of ME NH MA
http://www.facebook.com/SUPERCUTSofMENHMA
Record your acts on the 26 Acts of Kindness log, or create a 26 Acts poster board to hang in the break room of the salon.
